Hindustan Zinc, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, launched a Guidebook to Inclusive Language on its Zinclusion platform to promote workplace equity and cultivate a diverse, inclusive environment. The guidebook serves as a strategic framework to enhance sensitivity toward communities such as LGBTQIA+, differently-abled individuals, and diverse ethnicities, fostering inclusive communication and equitable practices across all organizational levels.
The company introduced progressive policies to support LGBTQIA+ inclusion, offering up to ₹1 lakh in financial assistance for employees, ₹2 lakh for gender reaffirmation with dedicated leave for transgender employees undergoing surgery, and benefits like parenthood and housing support. “We aim to create a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered to be their authentic selves,” said Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson of Hindustan Zinc and Director of Vedanta Limited.
Hindustan Zinc employs 23 LGBTQIA+ individuals in mainstream roles across finance, supply chain, marketing, quality, medical, and other departments, reinforcing its commitment to diversity. The initiative aligns with the company’s broader goal of ensuring equal opportunities and fostering a culture that celebrates inclusivity, setting a benchmark for corporate social responsibility in India’s industrial sector.
