The Gurugram Special Task Force (STF) has arrested Haryana’s most wanted gangster, Mainpal Badli, following his deportation from Cambodia, where he had been evading justice. The 40-year-old criminal, who carried a Rs 7 lakh reward on his head, was apprehended in a secretive joint operation involving central agencies and the Gurugram STF, an official confirmed Tuesday. Badli’s capture marks the end of a long manhunt that spanned international borders.
Badli, who had been running his criminal network from abroad, was detained in Cambodia approximately 10 days ago after years of eluding authorities. He was released on parole from an Indian jail on August 29, 2018, but fled the country shortly after, allegedly continuing his illegal activities overseas. His rap sheet includes multiple serious charges, notably murder, with police alleging he orchestrated a killing even while incarcerated. This arrest is seen as a significant blow to organized crime in the region.
The STF official revealed that Badli’s deportation was the result of meticulous coordination with international law enforcement, highlighting the global reach of his criminal enterprise. The gangster’s return to India has raised hopes of unraveling his extensive network, which has terrorized Haryana for years. The STF plans to hold a press conference Wednesday afternoon to disclose further details about the operation and the evidence gathered.

Local residents and authorities alike have welcomed the arrest, with many viewing it as a step toward restoring peace in the crime-ridden areas affected by Badli’s gang. As investigations deepen, the focus will be on dismantling his remaining operations and bringing his accomplices to justice, signaling a renewed crackdown on Haryana’s underworld.
