In a harrowing incident in Deepola village, Jamwa Ramgarh, Jaipur, the body of an 18-month-old boy, allegedly thrown into a 200-foot-deep borewell by his father, Lalit Saini, was recovered on July 25, 2025, after an 18-hour rescue operation by the SDRF, NDRF, and Civil Defence teams. The accused, detained by police, claimed he discarded his son Ram’s body on Wednesday night, July 23, believing the child had died from a prolonged illness.
Station House Officer Rampal Sharma said Lalit, a habitual drinker, was distressed over his son’s health and his wife’s absence, as she had left for her parental home a month earlier amid domestic disputes. Lalit visited a local doctor on Wednesday but claimed the toddler died that night. He allegedly wrapped the body in a white cloth and threw it into a dry borewell. The body was retrieved using a rope and hook, and a post-mortem is underway to determine the cause and time of death.
An FIR was filed based on a complaint from Lalit’s wife, and police are investigating whether the child was killed or died naturally. Statements from Lalit’s brother and family members have been recorded. The case has sparked outrage, with locals and social media demanding stricter child protection measures.
