Former Punjab minister Razia Sultana and her husband, former Director General of Police Mohammed Mustafa, face murder charges following the mysterious death of their 33-year-old son, Aqil Akhtar, in Panchkula. Found unconscious last Thursday, Aqil was rushed to a hospital but pronounced dead. While the family attributes his death to a drug overdose, police suggest health complications from medication may be the cause. However, explosive allegations have emerged, twisting the narrative into a tale of betrayal and conspiracy.
Videos recorded by Aqil, reportedly from August, surfaced with shocking claims. In one, he accuses his father of an affair with his wife, alleging a sinister plot involving his mother and sister to frame or eliminate him. "I discovered my wife’s affair with my dad. I’m under immense stress and mental trauma," Aqil says, claiming his family dismissed his concerns as delusions and confined him unlawfully in a rehabilitation center. He questions his daughter’s paternity and fears being framed for crimes like rape or murder to protect the family’s reputation.
In a conflicting video, Aqil retracts his accusations, attributing them to schizophrenia and praising his family, though his tone shifts abruptly, hinting at fear of being killed. The videos, combined with a complaint from family acquaintance Shamsuddin, prompted police to file an FIR. Deputy Commissioner of Police Srishti Gupta noted that while initial investigations suggested no foul play, the allegations and social media evidence necessitated a deeper probe. A Special Investigation Team is now investigating the claims against Mustafa, Sultana, Aqil’s wife, and his sister.
