A 22-year-old engineering student was allegedly stabbed to death by a group of armed men in Telangana, with police suspecting that opposition to his relationship may have triggered the attack. The victim, identified as Bommana Yuvan, also known as Akhil, was a final-year B.Tech student studying at a private engineering college. The incident took place near his residence in Indiranagar Colony on Thursday night and has sparked tension in the local area.
According to police and local residents, Yuvan was watching a cricket match with friends on a mobile phone around 9 pm when a group of nearly 10 men arrived on motorcycles and confronted him. Witnesses said an argument broke out before the attackers allegedly assaulted him with knives. Authorities stated that the student suffered multiple stab injuries to the head, neck and hands during the attack, collapsing at the scene shortly afterwards.
Friends and local residents rushed the injured student to Gandhi Hospital for emergency treatment, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Police officials said the nature of the injuries suggested the victim had been specifically targeted. The murder created panic in the neighbourhood, prompting authorities to increase police presence around the victim’s residence as well as near the home of the woman reportedly linked to the dispute.

Investigators believe the killing may be connected to Yuvan’s reported four-year relationship with a woman whose family allegedly opposed the match. Police said preliminary findings point toward the possible involvement of the woman’s brother and brother-in-law. The accused have been identified as Paramesh and Sai, both of whom are currently absconding. Search operations have been launched to trace the suspects and determine the involvement of others believed to have participated in the attack.
Police officials stated that CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined while statements from eyewitnesses are also being recorded as part of the investigation. Technical and forensic evidence is being collected to establish the sequence of events and identify every individual involved in the assault. Authorities have registered a murder case and transferred the body to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
The incident has once again raised concerns over violent crimes linked to personal and relationship disputes in the region. Heavy police deployment remains in place to prevent any escalation or retaliation between the families involved. Officials have appealed to residents to maintain calm while assuring that efforts are underway to arrest all accused persons connected to the killing.
