On August 20, 2025, around 50 schools across New Delhi received bomb threat emails, triggering immediate action from police, fire services, and bomb disposal squads. The Delhi Fire Services reported that distress calls regarding threats at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya (SKV) in Malviya Nagar and Andhra School in Prasad Nagar were received at 7:40 am and 7:42 am, respectively. Other schools, including Rahul Model School and Maxfort School in Dwarka, were also targeted, according to police sources.
Emergency teams swiftly launched search operations across the affected schools, evacuating students and staff as a precaution. No suspicious items have been found so far, and officials suspect these threats may be hoaxes, similar to an incident on August 18 when 32 Delhi schools received comparable emails that proved false.
The repeated threats have caused significant concern among parents and educators. Aprajita Gautam, president of the Delhi Parents Association, emphasized the growing insecurity among families, urging authorities to prioritize student safety. The Delhi Police are investigating the source of the emails, with cyber forensic teams working to trace the IP addresses. A group identifying itself as "Terrorizers 111" claimed responsibility, demanding $25,000 in cryptocurrency and alleging they had breached school IT systems.
