In a major crackdown, Delhi Police dismantled an interstate drug trafficking network, arresting two men and confiscating 288 kilograms of cannabis worth ₹50 lakh in the Sarai Kale Khan area, authorities announced on Monday.
The suspects, identified as Mukesh Dahiya (39) and Rajesh Dahiya (29) from Sonipat, were apprehended on June 22 following a targeted operation near Shamshad Ghat. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a truck and uncovered 139 plastic bags of cannabis stashed in a hidden compartment, an official revealed.
Initial probes indicate the syndicate sourced the narcotics from Odisha, funneling them through a network spanning Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi-NCR for distribution in the capital. Mukesh, the truck’s owner, recently purchased the vehicle after years as a driver, while Rajesh has been a commercial truck driver for nearly a decade.
The duo was nabbed on the spot, and police are digging deeper to unravel the full extent of the operation. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
