In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Delhi’s Outernorth District police arrested three individuals, including two women, on Sunday, seizing heroin valued at over ₹4 crore in the international market. The operation, conducted in two phases on August 29, led to the recovery of 1.012 kg of the narcotic, marking a significant blow to the city’s drug trade.
The first arrest was that of Afsana, a 23-year-old resident of Jahangirpuri, apprehended in the Bhalswa Dairy area with 300 grams of heroin in her possession. “Following Afsana’s interrogation, she revealed critical details about her suppliers, enabling us to expand the operation,” a senior police officer stated. This information led to a swift follow-up raid in Burari, where authorities arrested Narender, 37, near the transport authority office, and his wife Jyoti, 35, at their residence.
Searches at the couple’s Burari flat uncovered an additional 712 grams of heroin, meticulously hidden at multiple locations within the house. “The total value of the seized heroin exceeds ₹4 crore, reflecting the scale of this illicit operation,” the officer added.

Surprisingly, none of the three arrested—Afsana, Narender, and Jyoti—have a prior criminal record, raising questions about their entry into the drug trade. Police are now intensifying their investigation to trace the source of the heroin and dismantle the broader network behind this operation. “We are committed to rooting out drug trafficking in Delhi and will leave no stone unturned to identify the masterminds,” the officer said.
This bust underscores the growing challenge of narcotics in the capital and the police’s determined efforts to curb it. As the investigation continues, authorities are hopeful that further leads will expose the supply chain, potentially preventing more drugs from flooding Delhi’s streets.
