A Delhi Police officer has been accused of opening fire on a group of labourers in the Dwarka area of the national capital, leaving one person dead and another seriously injured. The shocking incident reportedly took place in the early hours of Sunday and has triggered an urgent manhunt for the accused officer, who fled after the shooting.
A Delhi Police officer has allegedly opened fire on a group of labourers in the Dwarka area of the national capital, killing one man and injuring another in a late-night incident that has sparked outrage and a major police search operation. The accused officer is currently absconding, while senior officials have launched an investigation into the shocking case involving a serving policeman.
According to preliminary information shared by police sources, the firing took place around 2 am in Jafarpur Kalan village. A group of labourers living in a nearby colony were reportedly gathered together late at night, allegedly partying and creating noise in the area. The police officer, who is said to reside close to the location, allegedly objected to the disturbance and confronted the workers.

What initially began as an argument over the noise soon escalated into a serious altercation. Sources claimed tempers flared between the officer and the labourers, following which the policeman allegedly pulled out his service weapon and fired at the group. The sudden gunshots created panic in the locality, with several people rushing out after hearing the commotion.
Two labourers were struck during the firing and were immediately taken for medical treatment. One of the injured men later succumbed to his wounds, while the second victim remains under treatment at a hospital. Officials have not yet released the identities of the victims, and the condition of the injured labourer is being closely monitored.
The death has intensified scrutiny over the use of force by law enforcement personnel, especially in personal disputes unrelated to official duty. Local residents are said to be shocked that a disagreement over noise could allegedly turn into a fatal shooting involving a police officer entrusted with maintaining public safety.
Following the incident, the accused officer reportedly fled the scene before other police teams arrived. Authorities have since formed multiple teams to track him down and ensure his arrest at the earliest. Raids and searches are believed to be underway in possible hideouts and places linked to the accused.
Police officials said an FIR is in the process of being registered and further legal action will follow based on witness statements, forensic evidence, and the recovery of the weapon used in the crime. Investigators are also expected to examine whether the officer was under stress, intoxicated, or acting alone when the firing occurred.
The case is likely to draw strong reactions in Delhi, as it raises serious questions about discipline, accountability, and the conduct expected from uniformed personnel. More details are expected to emerge once the accused is apprehended and formally questioned by investigators.
