In a major crackdown on cyber fraud, Delhi Police have successfully dismantled a sophisticated fake recruitment racket that deceived job seekers by impersonating the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Special Cell Police Station.
The accused, identified as 30-year-old Kuldeep from Jaipur and 25-year-old Piyush, allegedly developed a counterfeit ASI recruitment website and advertised fake government vacancies nationwide. Kuldeep, a B.Com graduate pursuing an LL.B., and Piyush, a B.Tech in Computer Science, reportedly intended to exploit unemployed youth by demanding bribes for selection.
Authorities revealed that the fraudsters had advertised seven Curator posts and 84 Junior Assistant positions under the ASI, Ministry of Culture. The fake portal closely imitated the official website, complete with authentic logos, layouts, and color schemes, making it difficult for candidates to detect the scam. Links to the portal were circulated via social media, college groups, and messaging apps, drawing hundreds of applicants.

Investigators said approximately 150 candidates were shortlisted for a written examination after their backgrounds and financial capacity were assessed. The accused had even booked a reputed examination centre in Jaipur and conducted the test in a professional manner to add credibility to the scheme.
The police stated that the accused planned to declare nearly half of the candidates successful and then call them for interviews, where they would demand bribes in exchange for appointment letters. The plot was foiled thanks to timely intelligence-led intervention by the IFSO unit of Delhi Police, which conducted raids and apprehended the accused before the interview stage.
During searches, police recovered laptops, desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and passbooks allegedly used in the execution of the crime. Deputy Commissioner of Police Vinit Kumar confirmed that the swift action prevented large-scale financial exploitation of job aspirants across the country, highlighting the critical role of intelligence-led policing in combating cyber fraud.
