Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested Bandhu Man Singh, a notorious gangster directly linked to the recent armed attack on comedian Kapil Sharma’s restaurant in Canada, officials confirmed on Friday. The suspect is described as a close operative of Canada-based fugitive gangster Goldy Dhillon, who heads an international extortion syndicate targeting prominent businessmen and celebrities.
According to investigators, Singh played a crucial coordinating role from Indian soil, relaying instructions from Dhillon’s overseas network to execute the firing as a calculated act of intimidation against the popular entertainer. The arrest followed precise intelligence inputs that placed the accused in the national capital, where a swift operation was launched to neutralise the threat.
During the arrest, authorities recovered a sophisticated Chinese-made pistol along with live cartridges from Singh’s possession, further establishing his active involvement in violent criminal activities. Senior officers stated that his interrogation has already revealed critical details about the cross-border conspiracy and the gang’s operational structure.

The development marks a significant breakthrough in the high-profile case that sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry and highlighted the growing reach of organised crime syndicates operating between India and Canada. Police have intensified the investigation to identify and apprehend additional members of the network still at large.
Further probes are underway to map the full extent of Goldy Dhillon’s extortion racket and its connections with criminal elements in India. Authorities have assured that all individuals involved in threatening or targeting public figures will be brought to justice without delay.
