A 19-year-old youth, Himanshu, was brutally stabbed to death in the Gokalpuri area of northeast Delhi on Monday night, allegedly by two brothers, Shahrukh Khan (19) and Sahil Khan (20), over his romantic involvement with their sister.
The incident, reported at 9:14 PM in Sanjay Colony, has sparked outrage, with the victim’s family protesting for justice.
Police acted swiftly, arresting the siblings after reviewing CCTV footage and forming multiple teams to track them down.
A third accomplice, who allegedly assisted in the crime, remains at large. According to a police source, Himanshu’s relationship with the girl had long been a point of contention with her brothers, who had previously threatened him. “We are questioning the accused to determine where they obtained the knife,” the source added.
Himanshu’s mother, devastated, recounted her son’s dying words: “He told me not to spare them, that the girl betrayed him.” His father, Joginder, described the attack, noting one brother held Himanshu while the other stabbed him repeatedly. Rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Himanshu was declared dead on arrival.
The killing triggered a road blockade by the family, disrupting traffic as they demanded justice. Police assured them of the arrests and deployed paramilitary and additional forces to maintain order, urging the public to avoid rumors.
A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Gokalpuri Police Station. Preliminary findings indicate the victim and accused were known to each other and resided in the same locality, adding a personal dimension to this tragic incident.
