In a significant blow to actress Pavithra Gowda, the prime accused in the sensational Renukaswamy murder case, the 64th Sessions Court in Bengaluru rejected her fresh bail application on Tuesday. The decision, delivered by Judge I P Naik, came after heated arguments from Gowda’s legal counsel, Advocate Balan, who pleaded for her release. The court, however, remained unconvinced, reserving its order before denying the plea, keeping Gowda behind bars at Parappana Agrahara Central Jail.
Gowda’s legal troubles intensified after the Supreme Court, acting on a police plea, revoked the bail previously granted to her and six other accused, including Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and Pradosh. The actress had briefly enjoyed freedom, spending time with family and managing her business and temple activities, before her arrest on August 14, 2025, following the apex court’s ruling. The cancellation of bail for the seven accused sent shockwaves through the case, which has gripped Karnataka due to its high-profile nature.
The case stems from the brutal murder of Renukaswamy, a fan of Darshan, whose body was discovered near a stormwater drain in Sumanahalli, Bengaluru, on June 9, 2025. According to police, Renukaswamy had sent obscene messages to Gowda, a close friend of Darshan, which allegedly infuriated the actor, leading to the fatal attack. The case has drawn intense public and media scrutiny, with allegations of a planned conspiracy fueling public outrage.

Gowda’s repeated failure to secure bail underscores the gravity of the charges against her. As the main accused (A1), she faces serious allegations in a case that has not only tarnished her reputation but also raised questions about the involvement of prominent figures in the Kannada film industry. The court’s decision reflects its cautious approach, prioritizing the ongoing investigation and the severity of the crime.
As the legal proceedings continue, all eyes remain on the Renukaswamy murder case, with the public awaiting further developments in this high-stakes drama. Gowda’s future hangs in the balance as she remains in custody, with the next hearing expected to shed more light on the case that has captivated Karnataka.
