The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Sunday demanded the immediate arrest of those allegedly responsible for an assault that resulted in the death of Janab Mafik, the father of CJP volunteer Shaik Abdul Hafeez, in West Bengal's Bankura district. The party alleged that Mafik suffered severe head injuries during an attack at his family's residence and later died while undergoing treatment. According to a statement issued by the CJP, Mafik died on Saturday from injuries sustained in the alleged assault.

The party said the incident occurred in the Karisunda area of Bankura district after Hafeez, 25, participated in the CJP's nationwide “School Thik Karo” campaign at a government school in his village on August 13. The campaign, according to the party, involves volunteers visiting government schools to assess their infrastructure and document issues affecting students and staff. CJP said Hafeez had inspected the local school as part of the initiative before returning home. The party alleged that the events following his visit led to an attack on his family. The CJP alleged that armed individuals identified as local BJP workers forcibly entered Hafeez's residence later on August 13.

The party claimed that the confrontation resulted in an assault in which Mafik sustained serious head injuries.
