Former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh renewed his criticism of yoga guru Baba Ramdev, questioning the latter's campaign promoting swadeshi products. Singh alleged that the campaign now included spurious products and foreign goods. Speaking at an event at a college in Gonda, the BJP leader also challenged Ramdev over any future protest, using provocative language while referring to the yoga guru's previous agitations.
Singh said Ramdev's initial efforts to promote swadeshi products had been justified when they focused on encouraging Indian goods. However, he questioned the campaign's current direction and sarcastically referred to Ramdev's business activities. Singh also claimed that Ramdev's group was involved in manufacturing foreign undergarments, using the example to question the consistency of the swadeshi campaign.
The former MP also made personal remarks about Ramdev while discussing his earlier protests. Singh said that if Ramdev planned another agitation, he should come prepared for a decisive confrontation rather than appearing in what he described as traditional attire associated with women. The comments added a confrontational tone to Singh's latest criticism of the yoga guru and his business activities.

Singh further raised questions over the presence of spurious ghee in the Indian market and alleged that Ramdev should be held responsible for the issue. He did not provide details or evidence for the allegation in the remarks cited. His comments come amid a long-running public dispute with Ramdev that has involved disagreements over the Patanjali brand and the promotion of products under the company's name.
The disagreement between Singh and Ramdev dates back to 2022, when Singh, then a six-term BJP MP, questioned Ramdev and Patanjali managing director Acharya Balkrishna over their use of the Patanjali name. Singh argued that they had not done enough for the development of the site associated with Maharishi Patanjali in Gonda, which is also Singh's native district. The dispute marked the beginning of a series of public exchanges between the two.
The relationship became more contentious in 2023 when Ramdev expressed support for female wrestlers who had accused Singh, then president of the Wrestling Federation of India, of sexual harassment and demanded action against him. Singh's latest remarks indicate that the differences between the two remain unresolved. His criticism has now shifted again towards Ramdev's swadeshi campaign, products and business activities, keeping their long-running public dispute in the spotlight.
