Security forces intensified a large-scale joint search operation across Chore Motu village and surrounding dense forest areas in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district on Sunday following credible intelligence that two unidentified terrorists forcibly entered a local residence late Saturday evening and demanded food before vanishing into the nearby woodland.

The intruders reportedly arrived at the home of villager Mangtu Ram around 6:30 pm, compelling the family to provide meals under threat before swiftly fleeing toward the thickly forested terrain, prompting immediate mobilization of police and paramilitary units to the Majalta region despite failing to intercept them during initial nighttime sweeps.

Authorities swiftly established a tight cordon around the expansive forest belt adjacent to the village early Sunday morning with the break of daylight, deploying multiple teams to conduct systematic combing from various directions in a determined bid to locate, track, and neutralize the armed militants hiding within the challenging topography.

The latest operation unfolds barely five kilometers west of Soan village where, on December 15, a fierce encounter resulted in the death of a policeman after forces acted on specific inputs regarding movement by Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists who ultimately escaped by exploiting heavy foliage cover and prevailing darkness.

This renewed militant activity in the Majalta area heightens security concerns across Udhampur district, with officials maintaining heightened vigilance and reinforcing checkpoints while the ongoing multi-agency hunt continues unabated to prevent any further threats to local residents and restore complete control over the sensitive region.
