Gurugram Police arrested Jatin, a 24-year-old bike-taxi rider from Faridabad’s Parvatiya colony, on Saturday for his role in the August 17 firing at YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav’s residence in Sector 57. Jatin, who worked for an app-based bike-taxi service, allegedly planned the attack and provided the motorcycle used by three masked assailants who fired over 24 rounds at Yadav’s home around 5:30 am, police said. The motorcycle was recovered, and Jatin was sent to judicial custody after being produced in court on Sunday.
This marks the second arrest in the case, following the apprehension of Ishant Gandhi alias Ishu, 19, from Faridabad, on August 22 after a police encounter near Faridpur, where he was shot in the leg. The Bhau Gang, led by Portugal-based fugitive Himanshu Bhau and Neeraj Faridpuria, claimed responsibility via social media, alleging Yadav promoted illegal betting apps. A post on X by @BhaskarEnglish_ noted, “Ishant shot in leg after attempting to run; Bhau Gang claimed responsibility.”
Yadav, absent during the attack, confirmed his family’s safety on Instagram. His father, Ram Avtar Yadav, reported no prior threats. The incident, captured on CCTV, prompted an FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act sections. Police are probing further, with two suspects, including a third shooter, still at large. The attack, linked to Yadav’s alleged betting app ties, follows a similar firing at singer Rahul Fazilpuria’s home, suggesting a pattern targeting public figures. Social media on X, like @GarvitBhirani, emphasized the arrests’ significance in curbing gang violence.
