In a shocking revelation, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested Shama Parveen Ansari, a 30-year-old woman from Bengaluru, on July 29 for allegedly promoting the agenda of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), a banned terrorist organization. Ansari is accused of using social media to spread provocative, anti-India propaganda, including a direct appeal to Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, to invade India during Operation Sindoor to establish a "Project Khilafat" and "unify Muslim lands."
Operating two Facebook pages and an Instagram account with over 10,000 followers, Ansari allegedly shared inflammatory content, including jihadi rhetoric and speeches from radical preachers. On May 9, just days after India’s Operation Sindoor targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK on May 7, Ansari posted on Facebook, urging General Munir to seize a “golden opportunity” to attack India and “eliminate Hindutva and Zionism.” The post included a photo of Munir, amplifying its provocative nature.
The ATS uncovered multiple incriminating videos on Ansari’s accounts. One featured a preacher criticizing Indian Muslims for supporting the Indian Army and condemning the Pahalgam terror attack. Another showed Abdul Aziz, Imam of Lahore’s Lal Masjid, advocating an armed revolution to establish a Khilafat system in India. A third video contained an AQIS leader promoting “Ghazwa-e-Hind,” inciting violence against the Indian state, specifically targeting the Hindu community and democratic institutions.

Ansari’s arrest is linked to a broader crackdown on an AQIS terror module, following the apprehension of four individuals—Mohammad Faiq (Delhi), Zeeshan Ali (Noida), Saifulla Qureshi (Modasa, Gujarat), and Mohammad Fardeen Shaikh (Ahmedabad)—two weeks prior. These suspects, nabbed in a multi-state operation, were also charged with spreading radical content online. Ansari was reportedly in contact with one of these individuals, coordinating efforts to radicalize youth and promote anti-India sentiments.
All five have been charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The ATS, in collaboration with central agencies and local police, continues to investigate Ansari’s connections, including alleged links to Pakistani entities and the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) via social media. Her devices revealed additional suspicious accounts, raising concerns about a wider terror network operating in India.
