Grammy-winning composer Ricky Kej reported a brazen theft at his Bengaluru residence on December 12, 2025, alleging that a food delivery executive trespassed and stole a sump cover valued at several thousand rupees. Kej shared CCTV footage on X on December 13, capturing the suspect entering his premises twice—first around 6 p.m. to purportedly survey the area, then returning shortly to remove the heavy metal cover.
In his post, Kej tagged the delivery platform and Bengaluru City Police, writing, "I was robbed! Looks like one of your drivers entered my home on Thursday and stole our sump cover. Quite bold of them!" He provided close-ups of the suspect's face, the two-wheeler's registration, and multi-angle footage, urging authorities to identify the individual and warning others to remain vigilant.
The delivery company responded promptly, calling the allegation "concerning" and assuring an immediate investigation with necessary action. Bengaluru Police requested Kej's contact details and location for follow-up, indicating a formal complaint process.

Social media users expressed shock, with suggestions ranging from installing "Beware of Dogs" signs to using reinforced concrete sump covers costing around ₹1,200 to deter theft. Many highlighted rising concerns over delivery personnel access in gated homes.
Kej, a three-time Grammy winner and Padma Shri recipient known for environmental advocacy, emphasised the boldness of the act occurring in broad daylight. The incident underscores growing worries about home security amid frequent deliveries in urban India.
Police are investigating, with the footage expected to aid in tracing the suspect through vehicle records and platform data.
