Bengaluru police arrested BC Mylarappa, a former Registrar of Bangalore University, after a 37-year-old woman accused him of sexual harassment, intimidation, and defamation. The woman, whose husband passed away last year, alleged that Mylarappa initially helped her with legal issues over a property dispute but later began harassing and threatening her. The case was formally registered following complaints filed in October 2025.
The victim described that Mylarappa, along with an accomplice named Jayamma, started stalking her, sending abusive voice notes and texts, and spreading defamatory rumours. She said he showed up at her home when her children were away, displaying intimate knowledge of her household schedule. When she resisted his advances and refused to sign documents implicating a family friend and advocate, he allegedly abused and assaulted her publicly.
Authorities have filed two cases against Mylarappa: one for harassment and another following an incident where he allegedly created a public disturbance at the woman’s and her relative’s homes. Police have taken Mylarappa into custody and are conducting further investigations. He has been charged under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) law related to harassment and intimidation.

Mylarappa’s controversial past includes being removed as Bangalore University Registrar in 2012 due to allegations of plagiarism and financial irregularities. Despite these issues, he remained active in academia and had political ambitions. The recent arrest further highlights concerns about abuse of power under the guise of assistance, particularly targeting vulnerable women.
Police have assured that the case is being treated with utmost seriousness, and Mylarappa will be produced in court shortly. The victim continues to seek justice as authorities probe deeper into the harassment and intimidation allegations.
