A catastrophic fire engulfed a passenger bus traveling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur, injuring 15 people, including three children and four women. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. near Thaiyat village, approximately 20 kilometers from Jaisalmer, on a busy route, sparking panic and chaos among passengers and onlookers. The bus, carrying 57 passengers, was consumed by flames shortly after departing Jaisalmer, turning a routine journey into a life-threatening ordeal.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire originated from the rear of the vehicle, with smoke quickly escalating into a raging blaze. Passengers scrambled to escape through windows and doors as the flames spread rapidly. Local villagers and passersby heroically intervened, using water from nearby sources and sand to combat the fire and assist trapped individuals before emergency services arrived. Their swift actions helped mitigate the disaster until the fire brigade and police reached the scene.
The fire brigade, supported by army personnel from a nearby base, worked tirelessly to bring the blaze under control, extinguishing it after an hour-long effort. Meanwhile, 15 injured passengers, some in critical condition, were rushed to Jawahar Hospital in Jaisalmer via three ambulances coordinated by villagers and police. Those with severe burns, including a woman named Imamat (30) and her son, were transferred to Jodhpur for specialized treatment. Doctors at Jawahar Hospital provided immediate first aid to stabilize the victims.
