The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is cruising to a historic victory in the Bihar assembly elections, with the ruling coalition leading in over 200 of the state’s 243 seats. The results mark a decisive mandate for the alliance between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, both of whom were credited by BJP leaders for steering the campaign around development and social welfare.
According to BJP sources, the NDA’s massive win was driven by the party’s “GYAN formula” — Gareeb (poor), Yuva (youth), Annadata (farmers), and Naari (women). The campaign, the party said, gained traction as voters across social and caste lines rallied behind Modi’s welfare narrative and Nitish Kumar’s governance record. “This election has changed the nature of Bihar politics. People, especially women and youth, voted above caste lines for development and progress,” a senior BJP leader said.
Party insiders claim the NDA received overwhelming support from backward and extremely backward communities across 160 constituencies. The alliance’s manifesto and welfare outreach, including direct cash transfers to women under the Chief Minister Mahila Rojgar Yojana, appeared to have resonated strongly. The initiative recently credited Rs 10,000 each to more than a crore women to encourage entrepreneurship and self-reliance. “This clearly shows that all sections of society have trusted the NDA for continuity of development and social justice,” party representatives said.

The NDA’s election manifesto promised an ambitious set of welfare measures aimed at women and youth, including one crore jobs, the creation of one crore “Lakhpati Didis,” and Rs 2,000 monthly support for SC/ST students pursuing higher education. The manifesto also included provisions for free rations, medical coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh, and construction of 50 lakh additional pucca homes. For farmers, the coalition pledged to raise the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi assistance from Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000 and double annual aid for fishermen.
With these welfare-centric promises, the BJP said Bihar’s electorate had rejected the “dynastic and caste-driven politics” of the opposition. “This election broke the nexus of the RJD-Congress alliance that thrived on caste polarization. The people voted for growth, not nepotism,” a senior NDA leader remarked. As of 6 p.m., the NDA was leading in 208 seats, with the opposition Mahagathbandhan trailing far behind — the RJD ahead in 25 seats, the Congress in two, and Left parties in one each. Bihar’s record 66 percent voter turnout, particularly the 71 percent participation by women, further underscored the social shift driving the NDA’s landslide win.
