In a major relief to homebuyers, the Noida Authority has lifted the long-standing restrictions on Sports City projects in Sector 150, paving the way for stalled developments to resume after nearly five years. The decision is expected to benefit around 20,000 families who had invested in these projects and were awaiting clarity on their future. The move marks a significant step toward reviving one of the region’s most ambitious real estate ventures.
The Sports City project, located along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, involves an estimated investment of over ₹50,000 crore and includes a mix of residential, commercial, and sports infrastructure. The prolonged halt had left buyers in uncertainty, with many facing delays in possession and legal complications. The latest decision by the authority is seen as a positive development for both investors and developers.
Earlier this year, in January, the Noida Authority had already taken a step forward by lifting the ban on the issuance of occupancy certificates as well as the registration and sale of completed units in the Sports City developments. This partial relaxation had allowed some progress, but full-scale revival remained dependent on further regulatory clarity and approvals.

The breakthrough came after directions from the Supreme Court of India, which had approved a revival framework for the Sports City project, particularly concerning developments by Lotus Green Constructions. In its order dated November 24 last year, the court cleared the way for construction and related activities to resume after a prolonged period of uncertainty.
Officials indicated that the lifting of restrictions would now enable developers to restart construction work, complete pending projects, and move toward handing over units to buyers. It is also expected to restore confidence in the real estate market in the region, which had been impacted by regulatory hurdles and project delays over the years.
The decision has been welcomed by homebuyers and industry stakeholders alike, as it brings renewed hope for timely project completion and resolution of long-pending issues. Authorities are expected to closely monitor compliance and progress to ensure that the revival proceeds smoothly and that buyers’ interests are safeguarded moving forward.
