ICICI Bank increased its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) allocation to Rs 994 crore in fiscal year 2025-26 (FY26), reflecting its continued focus on environmental sustainability, education, healthcare, and community development. The announcement was made in the bank's latest annual sustainability report, which highlighted a range of initiatives undertaken across the country. The report also outlined the lender's growing commitment to sustainable financing and long-term ecological conservation.
As part of its environmental efforts, the bank has facilitated the plantation of over 50 lakh trees since fiscal 2022, including 86,600 trees during FY26. It has also supported water conservation projects that have created a cumulative water storage potential of 3,437 crore litres since the inception of these initiatives. These programmes are aimed at improving biodiversity, strengthening water security, and promoting sustainable natural resource management in various regions of India.
ICICI Bank has also expanded its support for research, education, and skill development through strategic partnerships. The lender collaborated with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to establish an advanced oncology research centre in Bengaluru equipped with modern facilities. In the agriculture sector, it partnered with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to promote climate-resilient farming practices and sustainable agriculture across eight research institutes and seven universities. Additionally, the bank developed 22 advanced laboratories at nine National Skill Training Institute centres to provide industry-focused vocational training.

Commenting on the bank's sustainability initiatives, Executive Director Sandeep Batra said that more than 30% of ICICI Bank's sustainable financing portfolio as of March 2026 was directed towards sectors such as renewable energy, electric vehicles, green buildings, and emerging technologies including hydrogen fuel. He noted that the bank has actively supported ecological conservation and biodiversity restoration across 83 forests nationwide, while continuing to expand its environmental and climate-focused investments.
The sustainability report underscores ICICI Bank's broader strategy of integrating environmental and social responsibility into its business operations. Alongside expanding its CSR expenditure, the lender has continued to invest in projects that contribute to climate resilience, scientific research, skill development, and community welfare. By combining financial support with partnerships across academic, agricultural, and environmental institutions, the bank aims to create long-term social and ecological impact while advancing sustainable development goals.
