Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin on Tuesday held a high-level strategy meeting with senior party leaders in Durgapur as part of preparations for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections. The meeting marked his first visit to the state since taking over as the party’s national president and focused on reviewing political conditions and organisational readiness.
According to party sources, the discussions centred on the current political climate in West Bengal, strengthening the party’s organisational structure, and outlining strategic initiatives aimed at expanding the BJP’s footprint across the state. The leadership reviewed booth-level preparedness, cadre mobilisation, and outreach plans ahead of the polls.
Senior BJP leaders present at the meeting included Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, former state president Dilip Ghosh, Dr Sukanta Majumdar, and Rahul Sinha. Following the meeting, Sukanta and Rahul told reporters that the party would intensify its public outreach programmes and reinforce grassroots structures in the coming weeks.

The strategy session was part of Nabin’s two-day schedule in West Bengal. During his visit, he is expected to assess the party’s election preparedness, hold organisational meetings with state and district-level leaders, and participate in public programmes aimed at energising the cadre.
On Wednesday, Nabin is scheduled to offer prayers at the historic Bhiringi Kali Mandir before addressing the BJP Karyakarta Sammelan of the Bardhaman division at Chitralaya Mela Maidan in Durgapur. He will later address the Asansol district BJP Karyakarta Sammelan in Raniganj, party officials said.
Meanwhile, the BJP has finalised a list of Prabasi leaders from several states to strengthen its campaign across West Bengal ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. The party has also confirmed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the state on January 30 and 31, during which he is expected to hold key organisational and political meetings to review preparations and boost party morale.
