Amazon India has announced plans to expand its quick-commerce service, Amazon Now, to more than 300 cities across the country as the company accelerates its investments in India's rapidly growing instant delivery market. The expansion marks one of Amazon's biggest logistics initiatives in the country and reflects its strategy to strengthen its presence in the highly competitive quick-commerce segment. The company also introduced a new programme called 'Sammaan' to provide additional benefits and support for its delivery associates.
According to Amazon India, Amazon Now has become its fastest-growing business in the country, with order volumes doubling every quarter since its launch. The service currently caters to more than 50 million customers across over 15 cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi and Amritsar. The company aims to rapidly scale the platform by expanding its delivery footprint and improving fulfilment capabilities across urban and emerging markets.
As part of the nationwide rollout, Amazon plans to significantly increase its network of micro-fulfilment and urban fulfilment centres. These facilities are designed to store high-demand products closer to customers, enabling deliveries within minutes of placing an order. The expansion is expected to improve delivery efficiency while supporting faster order processing as customer demand for instant commerce continues to rise.

Amazon Now offers a wide selection of products across multiple categories, including groceries, fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen foods, personal care products, beauty essentials, household items and small appliances. By combining a broad product catalogue with rapid delivery, Amazon is aiming to compete more aggressively with existing quick-commerce platforms that have gained popularity by offering convenience and shorter delivery times.
Alongside the business expansion, Amazon launched the 'Sammaan' initiative, a programme focused on improving the welfare of delivery associates. The company said the initiative will provide benefits and support to its delivery workforce, recognising their role in maintaining reliable and timely deliveries. The move comes as logistics companies increasingly invest in workforce welfare to improve retention and operational efficiency amid rising demand for quick deliveries.
The planned expansion of Amazon Now underscores the growing importance of quick commerce in India's retail landscape. With a target of reaching over 300 cities, expanded fulfilment infrastructure and continued investment in delivery operations, Amazon is positioning itself for stronger competition in the rapidly evolving market. The company expects the combined focus on faster deliveries, wider product availability and delivery partner support to drive the next phase of growth for its quick-commerce business in India.
