Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar tragically died in a plane crash on Wednesday morning when his Bombardier Learjet 45 aircraft, operated by VSR Aviation, went down near Baramati airport around 8:30 am. Hours after the crash, Supriya Sule, Ajit Pawar’s cousin, arrived in Baramati along with Sunetra Pawar, Ajit’s wife, and their son Parth. Witnesses reported emotional scenes as Sule broke down in tears, embracing family friends while mourning the sudden loss.
Vitthal Sheth Maniyar, a longtime friend of Sharad Pawar, was also seen inconsolable, consoling Sule and other family members. Social media updates from Sule described her as “devastated” by the death of her “Dada,” reflecting the profound shock within the family and political circles.

Despite a public political split in 2023, when Ajit Pawar broke from Sharad Pawar’s faction to join the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance, Supriya Sule has consistently emphasized that there were no personal differences within the family. She previously stated that political disagreements were purely ideological and never affected personal relationships.
Ajit Pawar’s NCP had recently contested municipal elections in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad in alliance with Sharad Pawar’s NCP, highlighting ongoing political collaborations despite past tensions. The tragic crash has now united family and colleagues in grief, overshadowing political divides.
