Air India has launched its new 'Easy Connect' service at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar, allowing passengers to complete immigration formalities and baggage check-in at Amritsar before travelling to 27 international destinations via Delhi. The initiative is designed to provide a smoother and faster travel experience, particularly for Punjab's large overseas diaspora, by eliminating the need to repeat airport procedures during transit in the national capital.
The service was inaugurated on Tuesday by Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu. Under the new arrangement, passengers travelling on a single Air India ticket can complete immigration clearance and check in their baggage at Amritsar itself. Once they arrive in Delhi, they will be treated as international transit passengers, allowing them to proceed directly to their connecting international flights without collecting and rechecking baggage or changing terminals.
As part of the programme, Air India has introduced two daily flights between Amritsar and Delhi. Flight AI1113 departs Amritsar at 9:10 am, while AI1115 departs at 10:00 pm. These flights have been scheduled to provide convenient onward connections to 27 international destinations across North America, Europe, Australia, West Asia and Southeast Asia, with transit times in Delhi expected to be completed within four hours of arrival.

According to Air India, the Easy Connect service aims to simplify international travel for passengers from Punjab by offering seamless end-to-end journeys on a single ticket. The airline said the initiative removes the inconvenience of multiple check-ins, baggage transfers and terminal changes, making international travel more efficient for both business and leisure passengers.
Speaking at the launch, Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu described the initiative as another step towards strengthening India's aviation infrastructure and improving passenger convenience. He said the government is working to build an aviation network that reflects the needs of a rapidly growing and globally connected India while improving connectivity from regional airports.
The Easy Connect service is expected to significantly benefit travellers from Punjab, many of whom frequently travel abroad for work, education and family visits. By streamlining immigration and transit procedures, Air India aims to reduce travel time and improve the overall international travel experience while further strengthening Amritsar's role as an important gateway for global connectivity.
