Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan has approached the Delhi High Court to safeguard his publicity and personality rights, seeking an urgent injunction against websites and online platforms misusing his image, likeness, and persona. The actor’s plea targets the unauthorized creation and dissemination of AI-generated videos, fake signed photographs, and sexually explicit content falsely attributed to him, which he claims are damaging his reputation and violating his rights.

During Wednesday’s hearing, Justice Tejas Karia directed Bachchan’s legal team, led by advocate Pravin Anand, to address specific queries raised by the court, scheduling further proceedings for 2:30 PM. Anand highlighted the alarming misuse of artificial intelligence by defendants to fabricate videos and images, including explicit material, that exploit Bachchan’s public image. “This is a blatant violation of the actor’s personality rights, with malicious content being spread to mislead the public,” Anand argued before the court.

Bachchan’s legal counsel, which also includes advocates Ameet Naik, Madhu Gadodia, and Dhruv Anand, emphasized the growing threat of deepfake technology in tarnishing the actor’s reputation. They argued that such unauthorized content not only misrepresents Bachchan but also causes significant emotional and professional harm. The plea seeks to restrain all platforms hosting such material and demands strict action against those responsible for creating and circulating the fake content.
