A 22-year-old man has been arrested in a village in Uttar Pradesh on charges of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl and issuing threats to silence her. The arrest follows a formal complaint filed by the victim's father with Bansdih Police Station on Friday, triggering swift police action and the registration of a criminal case. Authorities have initiated a full investigation into the circumstances of the alleged crime, with the accused currently in police custody for interrogation.
According to police, the accused lured the victim to an isolated location on the night of June 24, where he allegedly committed the sexual assault. Following the incident, he reportedly threatened the victim with severe consequences if she disclosed the assault to anyone. The threats were intended to prevent the victim from reporting the crime, a common pattern in such cases designed to ensure the victim's silence and obstruct justice.
Bansdih Station House Officer Rakesh Singh confirmed that a comprehensive case has been registered against the accused under multiple legal provisions. The charges include relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rape and criminal intimidation, alongside provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. These stringent legal frameworks are designed to ensure accountability and provide maximum protection to child victims of sexual abuse.

The accused was arrested from his residence on Saturday morning as part of the ongoing investigation. Police officials stated that further investigative work is proceeding, including evidence collection, witness statements, and medical examinations as per protocol. The case will proceed through the judicial system, with the accused to be produced before a magistrate for bail and charge-sheet determination in the coming days.
