Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has implemented a 22 per cent increase in weekly flight operations, raising total air traffic movements from 600 to 732 under the winter schedule effective from Sunday until March 28, 2026. The expansion responds to surging demand for domestic and international travel, particularly to metropolitan hubs and Gulf destinations, positioning the airport for one of its busiest operational periods.
Domestic services will see the sharpest growth, with weekly movements climbing 35 per cent from 300 to 406, including new routes to Navi Mumbai, Mangaluru, and Tiruchirapalli. Bengaluru leads domestic connectivity with 92 weekly flights, followed by Delhi at 84 and Mumbai at 70, while Chennai will have 42 services and Hyderabad and Navi Mumbai 28 each.
Kochi follows with 26 weekly flights, Tiruchirapalli 12, Kannur 10, Pune eight, and Mangaluru six. The enhanced schedule reflects airlines’ confidence in Thiruvananthapuram’s growing passenger base, driven by Kerala’s expatriate workforce, tourism influx, and business travel needs.

International operations will rise 9 per cent, from 300 to 326 weekly movements, strengthening links to key Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian cities. Abu Dhabi tops the list with 66 flights, followed by Sharjah at 56, Dammam at 28, and 24 each to Kuwait and Malé. Dubai, Muscat, and Kuala Lumpur will each have 22 services, with Doha at 20, Singapore 14, Bahrain 10, Colombo eight, Riyadh six, and Hanimaadhoo four.
The winter surge underscores Thiruvananthapuram’s evolving role as a vital aviation gateway for southern India, facilitating smoother connectivity for millions of travellers. Airport authorities anticipate improved passenger amenities and operational efficiency to handle the increased volume, while the schedule’s longevity through late March ensures sustained benefits for the region’s economy and global outreach.
