The National Capital Territory witnessed a floral extravaganza as the NDMC’s two-day ‘Annual Winter Rose Show’ concluded with a grand award distribution ceremony on Sunday. Organised in collaboration with The Rose Society of India at the India-Africa Friendship Rose Garden, Shanti Path, the event celebrated the beauty, colors, and fragrances of roses.
The show, inaugurated on Saturday by NDMC Chairperson Keshav Chandra, featured more than 70 varieties of roses showcased across 22 classes and 175 sections, with approximately 1,250 exhibits by participants from across India. Hybrid Tea, Floribunda, Miniature, Polyantha, and other rose varieties captivated visitors and judges alike.
Participants included prestigious organisations such as NDMC, PGI Chandigarh, and the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), commonly known as the Pusa Institute. Each participant displayed roses in vases and pots, competing for recognition in various categories.

Beyond the floral exhibits, the show offered a painting competition for NDMC school students, displays of value-added rose products, artistic bouquets, garlands, and Ikebana arrangements. These activities enhanced the visual and cultural appeal of the event, attracting families and enthusiasts.
The Winter Rose Show provided a serene and visually engaging experience for visitors, allowing them to appreciate the diversity of rose varieties while offering a refreshing break from the city’s fast-paced lifestyle. The event also served as a platform for rose lovers to network, exchange insights, and celebrate horticultural excellence.
Roses, celebrated globally for their colors, fragrance, and symbolic significance, were once again at the center of attention. The annual show reaffirmed the timeless appeal of this flower as a symbol of love, beauty, and elegance, leaving visitors mesmerized by the vibrant blooms and delightful scents.
