In a landmark spiritual initiative, India is sending the sacred Devnimori relics of Lord Buddha to Sri Lanka for their first international exposition, the High Commission of India in Colombo announced. The relics will be enshrined at Colombo’s Gangaramaya Temple from February 4 to 11, with public veneration beginning on February 5.
This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting India’s Buddhist heritage globally. The exposition is expected to attract devotees, monks, and international pilgrims, offering them a rare opportunity to pay homage to the revered relics and experience India’s rich spiritual legacy firsthand.
Highlighting India’s ongoing Buddhist diplomacy, the High Commission noted that similar initiatives have been conducted in countries such as Vietnam, Mongolia, Thailand, and Russia. These efforts aim to share the message of Lord Buddha and strengthen cultural and spiritual ties across borders.
