A cardiologist has outlined a structured daily routine designed to improve heart health, reduce disease risk, and support overall well-being, highlighting how small, consistent lifestyle changes from morning to night can have a significant long-term impact on cardiovascular function.Dr Sanjay Bhojraj, a longevity medicine physician and board-certified interventional cardiologist, shared the routine in a social media post dated May 9, explaining that modern work habits are often misaligned with what the heart and body naturally require.
According to him, long hours of sitting, excessive caffeine dependence, irregular eating patterns, and late-night screen exposure can collectively contribute to elevated stress hormones, disrupted sleep cycles, and increased cardiovascular risk.Dr Bhojraj emphasised that improving heart health does not require perfection, but rather consistent and sustainable habits throughout the day. He noted that structured daily routines can help stabilise blood pressure, improve glucose control, and support healthier sleep patterns over time.
The morning routine, according to his guidance, should begin with exposure to natural daylight before engaging with digital devices. He recommended stepping outside shortly after waking up, allowing the body to reset its internal clock. He also advised prioritising a protein-rich breakfast before consuming coffee, suggesting options such as eggs, Greek yogurt, or protein smoothies to help stabilise blood sugar levels and support nervous system function.Throughout the day, the emphasis is on reducing prolonged inactivity and avoiding patterns that place unnecessary strain on the cardiovascular system. Dr Bhojraj highlighted that frequent movement, mindful eating, and reduced reliance on stimulants can collectively improve energy levels and metabolic balance.
