A woman was allegedly kidnapped, assaulted and filmed by three people over unpaid loan interest, police said. The accused allegedly stripped the woman and recorded a video before threatening to circulate it if she failed to repay the money. The incident came to light after the woman’s mother approached Chandra Layout Police Station and filed a missing-person complaint. Police subsequently traced the woman and rescued her from the location where she was allegedly being held.

The three accused arrested in connection with the case have been identified as Reshma Banu, Nazath and Reshma’s husband Suhail. According to investigators, the woman had borrowed ₹1 lakh from Reshma Banu around two years ago. She later borrowed another ₹50,000 from Nazath through Reshma. Police said the woman was facing financial difficulties and had stopped paying interest for about six months, while she had also reportedly missed loan instalments for two months.

Following the payment dispute, the woman allegedly blocked Reshma’s phone number and moved to her mother’s house. Police said Nazath later contacted her and called her to a location on the pretext of offering work. When the woman arrived, Reshma and Suhail allegedly confronted and assaulted her. Investigators said the accused attacked her with a knife before forcing her into an autorickshaw and taking her to a house near Kumbalgodu.

The woman was allegedly confined at the house and subjected to further assault. Police said the accused stripped her and recorded a video during the incident. They allegedly threatened to make the footage public if she did not repay the money. The threats involving the video formed part of the allegations being examined by investigators as they continue to reconstruct what happened after the woman was taken from the initial location.

The case was investigated after the woman’s mother reported her disappearance to the police. Officers traced her whereabouts and reached the location where she was allegedly being held, following which she was rescued. The three accused were arrested in connection with the incident. Police are also examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack, confinement and threats, along with the individual roles of the accused.

A case has been registered at Chandra Layout Police Station under relevant sections of law. The investigation is continuing, with police examining the allegations and gathering evidence related to the alleged kidnapping, assault, recording of the video and threats to circulate it. The arrests have been made as part of the investigation, while further legal action will depend on the evidence collected by the authorities.
