Actor Deepika Padukone is reportedly continuing work on her upcoming action film Raaka while expecting her second child, with reports suggesting that she has been shooting demanding sequences during her third trimester. According to reports, the actor has been working night shifts and performing intense action scenes for the film, which stars Allu Arjun and is directed by Atlee. Sources from the film's production team said Deepika was determined to complete her portions before taking a maternity break.
A crew member quoted in a report by Variety said that some of the action sequences in Raaka were highly challenging but Deepika managed to complete them despite the physical demands. The source described her commitment as inspiring for the team on set, while also highlighting that she continues to balance professional responsibilities with family commitments. Deepika is also a mother to her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Dua, whom she shares with actor Ranveer Singh.
The update comes amid previous discussions around Deepika's demand for structured eight-hour work shifts in the film industry. The actor had faced criticism over the issue but defended her stance, saying that several leading male actors have followed similar working schedules for years without attracting the same level of attention. She argued that adopting more organised work practices would help improve conditions within the entertainment industry.

Speaking about the work culture in films, Deepika had criticised the industry's long-standing informal approach and called for greater professionalism and better working conditions. She said that while the film sector is considered an industry, it has often lacked proper systems, including concerns around long working hours and basic facilities. She added that she has always addressed her professional battles quietly and maintained dignity while pushing for change.
Raaka, directed by Atlee and produced by Sun Pictures, is scheduled for release in 2027. The film has already generated attention following the release of Allu Arjun's first look, which featured the actor in a bald and rugged appearance. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh recently announced their second pregnancy through a social media post featuring their daughter Dua. The couple, who married in Italy in 2018, welcomed their first child in September 2024 after beginning their relationship on the sets of Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela in 2013.
