Recent speculation surrounding a possible pregnancy for Samantha Ruth Prabhu has reignited interest in the actor's past comments about motherhood and family planning. The discussion gained momentum after clips from a recent celebration with her husband, filmmaker Raj Nidimoru, circulated online. While neither Samantha nor Raj has publicly addressed the rumours, the renewed attention has brought back earlier interviews in which the actor spoke candidly about her plans to have children.
Years before her marriage to Raj Nidimoru in December 2025, Samantha had openly discussed family planning during her marriage to actor Naga Chaitanya. In a 2018 interview, she revealed that the couple had even discussed a timeline for starting a family. Speaking with humour, she said they had "fixed a date" for welcoming their first child, although she acknowledged that life does not always follow carefully planned schedules.
The actor also reflected on how motherhood would influence her professional life. Samantha said that once she became a mother, her child would become the centre of her world. Drawing from her own childhood experiences, she explained that she wanted to provide her future children with opportunities and support that she felt were important while growing up. She indicated that she would be willing to step away from acting for a period to focus entirely on raising a child during the early years.

Similar remarks resurfaced during the promotion of the film Shaakuntalam. Producer Neelima Guna later revealed that Samantha had requested the film's production schedule be completed within a specific timeframe because she intended to prioritise family planning. According to the producer, Samantha had informed the team that she hoped to start a family and was considering taking a lengthy break from films after completing the project.
Neelima stated that the production team worked to accommodate Samantha's request and complete filming within the desired schedule. At the time, the actor reportedly viewed the project as potentially her last film before taking time away from the industry to focus on her personal life. However, those plans ultimately did not materialise as her personal circumstances changed in the years that followed.
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya announced their separation in 2021 after four years of marriage. Since then, both have moved forward with their personal lives, with Chaitanya later marrying Sobhita Dhulipala and Samantha marrying Raj Nidimoru in 2025. As speculation continues regarding the actor's future family plans, her earlier comments provide insight into the importance she has long attached to motherhood and balancing personal aspirations with a successful career in the film industry.
