Actor and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s wife, Anna Lezhneva, performed a head tonsuring ritual at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala on April 14, following the recovery of their son, Mark Shankar Pavanovich. The ritual was an act of gratitude after the eight-year-old’s survival and gradual recovery from a fire incident in Singapore earlier this month.
Anna offered her hair at Padmavati Kalyana Katta, a sacred space within the temple where devotees donate hair as a religious vow or thanksgiving. She was also seen participating in other temple rituals and pujas following the tonsuring ceremony.
On April 8, a fire broke out at a shophouse on River Valley Road in Singapore, injuring several adults and children. Mark Shankar sustained burns on his hands and legs and suffered respiratory distress from smoke inhalation. Emergency responders from the Singapore Civil Defence Force quickly brought the blaze under control and rushed the victims to nearby hospitals.

At the time of the incident, Pawan Kalyan was on an official tour in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district. Upon learning of his son’s condition, he flew to Singapore, accompanied by his brother, megastar Chiranjeevi.
Pawan Kalyan later issued a statement thanking well-wishers for their support: “Our youngest son, Mark Shankar, was injured in a school fire in Singapore… He is gradually recovering.” Chiranjeevi also shared an update on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Our baby Mark Shankar has come home… With the grace of Anjaneya Swamy, he will soon be fully healthy.”
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to those who performed poojas and offered prayers across villages and regions, saying the family felt strengthened by the public's love and support.
