Megastar Chiranjeevi and his wife Surekha flew to Singapore on Tuesday night alongside Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, whose son, Mark Shankar, was injured in a recent school fire in the island nation. The trio was spotted at Hyderabad airport as they boarded the flight to visit Mark, who is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Pawan Kalyan addressed the media before departure, revealing that his wife, Anna Lezhneva, is in deep distress following the incident. “She is rattled and in panic mode,” he said. “I am yet to speak to my children properly.”
According to initial reports, Mark sustained burns on his hands and legs and suffered from smoke inhalation. “He is going through bronchoscopy. He will be on general anaesthesia. The problem is that it will have a long-term impact due to smoke inhalation,” Pawan Kalyan said, expressing concern over his son’s condition.
The fire reportedly broke out during a summer camp, claiming the life of one child and injuring several others. Kalyan said he initially underestimated the seriousness of the situation. “I thought it was a simple incident. Later, I realised the magnitude of it. A kid lost his life and a lot of children are in the hospital now,” he shared somberly.
Pawan Kalyan also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for personally reaching out. “My wholehearted gratitude to PM Modi for giving me a call and ensuring that everything is going to be alright. He gave me great support through the High Commission in Singapore,” he said.
Kalyan, who had been touring Alluri Sitharama Raju and Visakhapatnam districts for development programmes, cancelled all engagements to rush to Singapore.
