Veteran Telugu Actor Chiranjeevi is facing criticism on social media after a remark he made during the Telangana Rising Global Summit. The actor, who attended the event alongside NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery and industrialist Anand Mahindra, mentioned that he was invited to the summit while “dancing with a girl” at Annapurna Studios, a comment that many found inappropriate.
Chiranjeevi, one of Telugu cinema’s biggest stars, shared that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had personally invited him to the event. He said he had sent Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu to the studio set while he was shooting for a film. “I felt very awkward and had to ask them to stop shooting for a while,” he added.
Many users on X (formerly Twitter) criticized the phrasing of his comment, calling it an unnecessary mention of a “girl” in a formal setting. Some suggested he could have simply stated he was on a film shoot. One user commented, “He has completely lost his senses. Bringing up a ‘girl’ topic was totally unnecessary here.”

Others expressed disappointment, saying celebrities should exercise caution when speaking at official or professional events. Comments included, “At some point of time we should stop inviting celebrities who cannot control their words to such summits,” and, “I think when we grow up we lose control on choice of words.”
Chiranjeevi continues to work on multiple film projects. He is set to appear next in Vishwambhara, scheduled for release in summer 2026, along with Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu and an untitled film with director Srikanth Odela. Despite the backlash, his popularity in Telugu cinema remains significant. The incident has sparked a wider discussion on social media about the responsibility of public figures to maintain decorum while speaking at professional or formal gatherings.
