Zendaya has suggested that HBO’s hit teen-to-young-adult drama “Euphoria” may end with its upcoming third season. Speaking on The Drew Barrymore Show ahead of the premiere, she said the series has “cracked my heart open” and implied that the new season will provide closure to her character Rue’s journey.
“Closure is coming,” Zendaya said, reflecting on the lessons she has learned from Rue, including empathy, resilience, and redemption. “I owe so much to that show,” she added, acknowledging the profound impact the role has had on her personally and professionally.
The eight-episode third season premieres Sunday on HBO and Max, four years after the end of Season 2. Creator Sam Levinson used the hiatus to reimagine the story, advancing the characters into young adulthood, five years past their high school years. The plot reportedly follows Rue on the run from drug lords in Mexico, signaling darker, high-stakes storylines.

Returning cast members include Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Eric Dane, Chloe Cherry, Dominic Fike, Nika King, and Colman Domingo. New additions for Season 3 feature Sharon Stone, Danielle Deadwyler, Natasha Lyonne, Eli Roth, singer Rosalia, Marshawn Lynch, Sam Trammell, and Asante Blackk, expanding the ensemble with fresh dynamics and story arcs.
This season also marks a somber first for the show following the death of Angus Cloud, who played fan-favorite Fezco, a character central to Rue’s story.
Zendaya’s comments suggest that Season 3 will provide an emotional and narrative resolution, potentially concluding the storylines of the core ensemble while addressing themes of trauma, addiction, and personal growth. Fans can expect a mix of high drama, intense performances, and cinematic storytelling that has become the show’s hallmark.
