Actor Vijay Varma has opened up about the difficult phase of his early career, recalling an uncomfortable experience that he described as a casting couch incident during his brief attempt at modelling before entering the Hindi film industry. The actor said the experience left him discouraged initially but also strengthened his determination to pursue acting. Known for his performances in films and series such as Gully Boy, Dahaad, and Darlings, Vijay has established himself as one of the most versatile actors in Indian cinema. However, he revealed that his journey to recognition was filled with struggles, rejections, and difficult moments during his early years.
In a recent conversation with Prakhar Gupta on his YouTube channel, Vijay recalled his experience while trying modelling work in Hyderabad. He said that during this period, he came across a model coordinator who made him uncomfortable by behaving inappropriately. Vijay said the coordinator attempted to get physically close to him in a way that crossed boundaries. He recalled confronting the person and questioning the behaviour, saying he immediately felt discouraged because he was inexperienced and unsure how to handle such situations at that stage of his career.
The actor said the incident made him reconsider his approach but eventually pushed him to confront challenges directly. He realised that if acting was his true ambition, he would have to continue despite difficult experiences and setbacks. Vijay also spoke about facing rejection while trying to enter the world of acting. He revealed that he initially approached the Sutradhar School of Acting in Hyderabad but was turned away. According to him, the institution told him that acting required long-term commitment and dedication rather than being a short-term pursuit.
