The Indian entertainment industry mourned the loss of actor Priya Marathe, renowned for her roles in popular television shows such as Pavitra Rishta and Kasamh Se. Marathe, aged 38, passed away at her residence in Mira Road, Mumbai, after a valiant two-year battle with cancer.
Marathe’s career spanned two decades, beginning with her debut in the 2011 Marathi show Char Divas Sasuche. She captivated audiences with her performances in both Hindi and Marathi television, with her final role in the 2023 drama Tuzech Mi Geet Gaat Aahe. Her dedication to her craft was widely admired, as highlighted by her cousin and co-star, Subodh Bhave, in a heartfelt social media tribute.
“A great actress, some of my co-star in series and movies. But for me, the relationship was more important with her. Priya, my cousin sister,” Bhave wrote. He praised her resilience and work ethic, noting the challenges she faced during the filming of Tu Metshi Navane amid her illness.
Bhave also acknowledged the unwavering support of Marathe’s husband, actor Shantanu Moghe, throughout her journey. “My sister was a fighter, but finally her strength fell short,” he added, praying for her peace.
