Stand-up comedian Samay Raina has responded to the backlash surrounding his show India's Got Latent with a mix of humour and defiance, signaling his return with a new season. Addressing the controversy during his stand-up special Still Alive, Raina made it clear that he has no plans to step back, telling audiences that the show will return despite the criticism it faced earlier.
The controversy dates back to February 2025, when an episode featuring podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, widely known as BeerBiceps, sparked outrage over remarks related to sensitive topics. The episode quickly went viral across social media platforms, triggering widespread criticism and leading to multiple police complaints being filed against those associated with the show. The incident dominated headlines and placed Raina at the center of a heated public debate on content boundaries in comedy.
After months of silence, Raina chose to address the issue directly through his live performance, using satire to reflect on the situation. In his act, he humorously distanced himself from the controversial remarks, stating that he had remained largely silent during the episode. His comment, “Hum Kashmiri crossfire mein hi marte hain,” drew attention online, as he used it metaphorically to describe being caught in the middle of a situation that escalated beyond his control.

Raina also took a light-hearted dig at Allahbadia, referring to him as “the monk who sold my Ferrari,” blending humour with criticism while recounting the episode’s fallout. Through his performance, he highlighted how the backlash unfolded rapidly, turning a single episode into a nationwide controversy. His approach reflects a broader trend among comedians who use stand-up as a platform to respond to criticism and reclaim their narrative.
Despite the backlash, Raina confirmed that India's Got Latent will return, reinforcing his commitment to the format and his audience. His announcement suggests that the comedian is choosing to move forward rather than retreat, even as debates around freedom of expression and responsible content creation continue in India’s digital entertainment space.
