Bigg Boss 20 contestant Rhiti Tiwari has said legal action has been initiated after Punjabi singer Ekam Bawa, who identifies himself as her stepfather, questioned her account of financial hardship shared on the reality show. Rhiti had spoken about receiving a monthly allowance of Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 from her father, actor-politician Manoj Tiwari, and recalled a period when she survived on two Rs 10 vada pavs a day. Ekam later publicly disputed her account and questioned whether it matched her lifestyle.
Following her exit from the show, Rhiti addressed the controversy while speaking to the media and said she would allow the legal process to take its course. She indicated that she would not provide further comments on the matter while it was being handled through legal channels. Rhiti also said that any developments would be communicated through her agency as the case progresses, signalling that she intends to keep the dispute within the legal process.
“Legal action has already been taken in this matter, so I will let the legal process take its course. Whatever updates there are, we will get to know about them only through the legal channels. My agency will let you know when things move forward. But the legal process has been initiated in this case,” Rhiti said after leaving the show.

The dispute began after Ekam questioned Rhiti's statements about her financial circumstances. In a video, he pointed to what he described as expensive personal possessions and the costs associated with maintaining luxury vehicles. Referring to handbags allegedly worth Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5 lakh and Range Rovers, he questioned how those expenses could be reconciled with her statement about receiving an allowance of Rs 25,000. His comments directly challenged the financial picture Rhiti had described during her time on Bigg Boss 20.
Rhiti has previously spoken on the show about her childhood and relationship with her father following her parents' divorce. She said she grew up largely without Manoj Tiwari's presence and recalled seeing him only around once a year. According to her account, her father had also made it clear that he would not help her build her career, leaving her to navigate her professional journey independently. These comments form part of the broader context surrounding the financial dispute, though the competing claims remain contested.
Rhiti's comments come after she was eliminated from Bigg Boss 20, which is hosted by Salman Khan and airs on Colors TV and streams on JioHotstar. The reality show's current format gives contestants an additional chance to continue their journey inside the house, with Yung DSA, ScoutOP and Aasif Khan having already lost one of their allotted lives. Rhiti has now said that further developments in the dispute with Ekam will be communicated through legal channels as the matter moves forward.
