Stand-up comedian Pranit More has announced his return to the comedy circuit with a new stand-up special titled Ghayal, months after stepping away from performing following the controversy surrounding his response to a misogynistic remark made by an audience member during one of his shows. The announcement has generated significant discussion online, with social media users drawing comparisons between his comeback and comedian Samay Raina's post-controversy special, Still Alive. While some fans welcomed Pranit's return, others questioned the similarities in the messaging surrounding the two specials.

Pranit unveiled the poster for Ghayal on Instagram on Wednesday, describing the show as a reflection of his personal journey after the controversy. In his post, he wrote that while he could not change what had happened, he could decide who he would become because of it, adding that Ghayal tells the story of that transformation. He also revealed that the special would begin its run in Mumbai, marking his first major stand-up performance since taking a break earlier this year.

The announcement received mixed reactions across social media platforms. Supporters expressed excitement about Pranit's comeback and wished him well, saying they were happy to see him return to the stage. Others, however, compared Ghayal to Samay Raina's Still Alive, accusing Pranit of following a similar comeback narrative after facing public criticism. Several users argued that the situations surrounding the two comedians were different, while some questioned whether portraying himself as "injured" or "hurt" was appropriate in light of the controversy that led to his hiatus.

Samay Raina himself faced controversy in February 2025 after comments made by influencer Ranveer Allahbadia during an episode of India's Got Latent sparked widespread criticism. FIRs were registered against Samay, Ranveer and others associated with the show, prompting Samay to remove all episodes from YouTube. He later returned with his stand-up special Still Alive, where he addressed the impact of the controversy before announcing the return of India's Got Latent for a second season.

Pranit More's hiatus followed the viral "Rs 370 biryani" incident, in which an audience member claimed he wanted to "recover" the money he spent on a date after dropping a woman home. During the interaction, Pranit laughed and referred to the exchange as "Peak Gurgaon content", drawing criticism for not challenging the remark. The comedian later apologised, acknowledging that he should not have laughed at or encouraged the comments. With Ghayal, Pranit now marks his return to live performances, although public opinion on his comeback remains divided.
