JioHotstar has redefined live sports streaming in India, clocking over 540 crore views and nearly 11,000 crore minutes of watch time during the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, which concluded recently. The platform’s triumph was capped by India’s third title win against New Zealand in the final, drawing an unprecedented 124.2 crore views and a peak concurrency of 6.12 crore viewers—surpassing the previous record of 5.9 crore set by Disney Hotstar in the 2023 Cricket World Cup final.
Kiran Mani, CEO – Digital at JioStar, hailed the achievement on LinkedIn: “With over 540 crore views and a peak concurrency of 6.12 crore, these numbers reflect the scale, passion, and evolution of digital streaming in India.” The final alone amassed 90 crore total views, outpacing the 66.9 crore views from India’s semi-final victory over Australia and the 60.2 crore views for the India-Pakistan clash. The semi-final against Australia also marked a milestone, recording the highest single-day subscriptions ever for an OTT platform.
This tournament marked JioHotstar’s first major cricket broadcast since its formation last year via an $8.5 billion merger between Disney’s Star India and Reliance’s Viacom18, uniting JioCinema and Hotstar. Mani added, “Beyond the numbers, our teams are pushing boundaries to make premium sports accessible to millions. This is just the beginning.”
Hindi-speaking regions drove over 38% of viewership, with Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Goa, Punjab, and Haryana leading the charge. Maharashtra topped large-screen consumption, as JioHotstar achieved over 80% penetration in WiFi-enabled connected TVs. The platform streamed the event across 16 feeds in nine languages—English, Hindi, Marathi, Haryanvi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada—introducing Indian Sign Language and Audio Descriptive Commentary for inclusivity, setting a new standard for cricket streaming.
