Actor Ali Asgar has opened up about typecasting, his experience in theatre and his approach to ageing and fitness, reflecting on a career that has spanned comedy, television and stage performances. The actor expressed gratitude to his well-wishers for supporting his journey while acknowledging that being repeatedly cast in similar roles has remained one of the major challenges of his professional life.
Asgar said typecasting is common in the entertainment industry, particularly for actors who become widely recognised for comedy. According to him, even some of the industry's greatest performers have faced similar challenges after becoming strongly associated with a particular style or character. Despite being known primarily for comic roles, he has continued to explore different opportunities and performance formats to demonstrate other aspects of his acting ability.
Reflecting on his television career, Asgar described Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii as a major turning point that changed how audiences and the industry viewed him. He said the popular television series gave him a platform where people began taking him more seriously as an actor. Before appearing in the show, he was largely recognised for comedy, but the role helped him establish a broader identity and showcase his versatility as a performer.

The actor has also expanded his work into theatre and recently appeared in Paritosh Painter's production Tom and Jerry alongside Aasif Sheikh and Shilpa Shinde. Asgar said performing on stage helped him discover a different dimension of acting. Theatre, which requires performers to engage directly with a live audience, offered him an experience distinct from television and allowed him to continue exploring new aspects of his craft.
Asgar also spoke about his personal approach to ageing and maintaining his health, saying he does not consider himself a fitness fanatic. Rather than following an extreme fitness routine, the actor prefers a balanced approach to diet and well-being. His views reflect a focus on ageing comfortably while maintaining the physical and mental discipline required for a demanding career across television, comedy and live stage performances.
The actor also discussed his ambitions, including the kind of role he hopes to play in the future, while explaining why he prefers to keep his professional and personal lives separate. After years of being closely associated with comedy, Asgar continues to seek opportunities that allow him to explore different characters and performance styles. His journey across television and theatre highlights his efforts to move beyond typecasting while remaining connected to the audience that has supported his career.
