Television actor Akanksha Chamola has opened up about her bisexuality and revealed that her estranged husband, actor Gaurav Khanna, knew about her sexuality before their marriage. In a recent interview with Mid-Day, Akanksha discussed her decision to marry Gaurav despite having previously identified as bisexual and addressed questions surrounding her personal life.
Akanksha revealed that Gaurav was aware of her bisexuality before they got married and accepted her identity. She also discussed her commitment to their relationship, explaining that she had chosen to remain faithful to her husband after marriage. Her comments come after she publicly discussed her sexuality during her stint on the reality show Lock Upp Season 2.
During the show, Akanksha disclosed that she had identified as bisexual before her marriage and had previously been in relationships with women. The revelation came after an argument with fellow contestant Shreya Kalra, who brought up the subject. Akanksha later described sexuality as something that could change over time and identified herself as asexual during her period of separation from Gaurav.

Her comments about sexuality have previously attracted reactions on social media. Following her elimination from Lock Upp Season 2, Akanksha discussed the subject again during a podcast with Tejasswi Prakash. She maintained that her understanding of her sexuality had changed over time, while her statements prompted discussion among viewers and social media users.
Akanksha and Gaurav reportedly developed a relationship while working in television and married on November 24, 2016, in a three-day wedding celebration in Kanpur. The couple largely kept their personal life away from public attention while pursuing their respective careers. Gaurav became widely known for television shows including CID and Anupamaa, while Akanksha appeared in shows such as Swaragini, Bhootu and Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye.
In January 2026, Akanksha had dismissed speculation about problems in their marriage and maintained that there was no trouble between them. Months later, however, she revealed on Lock Upp Season 2 that the couple was heading towards divorce and had been living separately for around a year. She described the separation as a result of differences in compatibility and future expectations, while maintaining that there was no bitterness between them.
