Tamil cinema star Vijay Sethupathi responded to and refuted sexual exploitation allegations leveled against him by an X user, describing them as baseless and part of a smear campaign. The accusations, made by a now-deactivated account under the name Ramya Mohan, claimed Sethupathi offered money for "caravan favours" and exploited a young woman. The posts, which appeared briefly before being deleted, referenced unverified details from a diary and phone chats.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the National Award-winning actor dismissed the claims, suggesting they were strategically timed to undermine the success of his latest film, Thalaivan Thalaivii, which is performing strongly at the box office. “Anyone who knows me will laugh at this,” Sethupathi said, adding, “Let her enjoy her few minutes of fame.”
He highlighted his resilience, noting that seven years of similar attacks have not affected him. Sethupathi has filed a cybercrime complaint against the user and criticized the lack of accountability on social media platforms. Known for his roles in Jawan alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Merry Christmas with Katrina Kaif, Sethupathi remains steadfast in focusing on his career amid the controversy.
